# ProjectX TradingView Alerts – Automate Futures Strategy

**Last Updated:** August 31, 2026 | **Published:** June 16, 2025

**Want to automate TradingView strategy alerts using ProjectX for futures?**
This guide walks you through the full process—connecting your [ProjectX account](https://www.projectx.com/login), setting up alerts in PickMyTrade, and fine-tuning your SL/TP automation for futures markets.

## 1. Connect Your ProjectX Broker Account {#0-toc-title}

Before creating alerts, you must link ProjectX to PickMyTrade:

1. Click **Connections** in the top-right of PickMyTrade
2. Select **Add New Connection** and enter your credentials:

| Field | Description | Example |
| --- | --- | --- |
| PickMyTrade Connection Name | Your custom name for this connection | PROJECTXI |
| Prop Firm Name | Your proprietary firm name (if applicable) | topstepx |
| Username | Your ProjectX login ID | fheer12@ |
| API Key | Your ProjectX API key | Fjvolazou-ES |

1. Click **Save** and verify the connection status shows **Active**

![Trading Platform by ProjectX connections table with the Add New Connection button highlighted](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/2-1024x169.png)

## 2. Generate the Alert in PickMyTrade {#1-toc-title}

Once ProjectX is connected:

1. Navigate to **Generate Alert** in the sidebar.
2. Fill out the required configuration fields (see below).
3. Click **Generate Alert** to receive your webhook message and URL.

## 3. Select ProjectX as Your Broker {#2-toc-title}

- **Broker:** ProjectX
Select ProjectX from the broker dropdown list.

![Broker dropdown in PickMyTrade alert form with ProjectX selected from the list](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-24-1024x337.avif)

## 4. Choose Alert Type for ProjectX Trading {#3-toc-title}

Two alert types are available:

- **INDICATOR** — Use this if you are triggering alerts manually or based on TradingView chart indicators.
- **STRATEGY** — Use only if you’re automating a Pine Script strategy.

![Alert Type dropdown in PickMyTrade form with STRATEGY selected over INDICATOR](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-25.avif)

**Example:**

- **Alert Type:** We chose Strategy in this example

## 5. Enter the TradingView Symbol {#4-toc-title}

Enter the TradingView symbol (e.g., **MNQ1!**).

This field is optional unless you’re using stop-loss types like:

- **Ticks**
- **Total Profit / Loss (USD)**

![TradingView Symbol field in PickMyTrade alert form filled in with MNQ1!](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-26.avif)

## 6. Strategy Type (For Strategy Alerts Only) {#5-toc-title}

Determine how exits will be handled in your strategy:

![Three strategy type options in PickMyTrade: No SL/TP, Attach SL/TP to Orders, Multiple Exits](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-27-1024x306.avif)

### Option 1: No SL/TP (Strategy Controlled Exits) {#3-toc-title}

- Select this if your TradingView strategy fully manages entries and exits
- PickMyTrade will NOT place any Stop Loss or Take Profit orders
- All exits will be executed only when TradingView sends exit alerts

**Use this when:**
Your strategy already includes complete exit logic

---

### Option 2: Attach SL/TP to Orders {#4-toc-title}

- Select this if your strategy does NOT handle exits
- PickMyTrade will place Stop Loss (SL) and Take Profit (TP) with each entry

**Features:**

- Choose SL/TP type (percentage, price, Total Profit/Loss, etc.)
- Only **one SL and one TP per order** is supported

**Use this when:**
You want simple, fixed risk management handled by PickMyTrade

You can refer to the Stop Loss / Take Profit Types guide in PickMyTrade for exact formulas and examples. [Click here](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/docs/automating-tradingview-indicator-alerts-in-projectx-for-futures/).

---

### Option 3: Multiple Exits (TP1, TP2, etc.) {#5-toc-title}

- Select this if your TradingView strategy uses multiple take-profit levels
- PickMyTrade will NOT require SL/TP configuration
- All exits will be executed based on TradingView alerts

**Note:**
When using multiple exits, SL/TP cannot be attached to the entry order.

---

## 7. Configure Stop Loss & Take Profit for ProjectX in your Strategy {#6-toc-title}

Choose the second option: **“Attach SL/TP to Orders.”**

![Strategy type selection in PickMyTrade with Attach SL/TP to Orders option selected](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-30-1024x309.avif)

**Would you like PickMyTrade to attach Stop Loss and Take Profit to each entry?**

![Risk Management panel with Stop Loss and Take Profit Mode dropdown expanded showing Ticks and other options](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-31-1024x239.avif)

**Important**: ProjectX does not support bracket orders. Only one TP and SL may exist per symbol—any new alert in the same direction overwrites previous SL/TP values.

Next, choose your preferred **Stop Loss / Take Profit Type**:

- **Point / Dollar** – Adds/subtracts a fixed value from entry price (e.g., +100, -50)
- **Ticks** – Ideal for futures. Defines risk/reward by tick distance
- **Total Profit / Loss** – Defines SL/TP in dollar terms (e.g., exit when profit hits $500 per contract)

You can refer to the Stop Loss / Take Profit Types guide in PickMyTrade for exact formulas and examples. [Click here](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/docs/automating-tradingview-indicator-alerts-in-projectx-for-futures/).

## 8.What Is Auto-Trailing Stop Loss?

![Risk Management panel showing Stop Loss 100 and Take Profit 200 with Enable Trailing Stop toggle](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-29-1024x366.avif)

The **Auto-Trailing Stop Loss** in ProjectX dynamically adjusts your stop-loss level as the market price moves in your favor. It helps protect profits and minimize losses by following price movement automatically — without needing you to set a fixed value.

### 1.** For Buy (Long) Trades** {#29-toc-title}

When the market price **goes up**, the stop-loss moves **up** automatically to secure some of the unrealized profit.
If the market **reverses** and starts falling, the stop-loss stays at the last adjusted level — locking in your gains.

### 2. **For Sell (Short) Trades** {#30-toc-title}

When the market price **goes down**, the stop-loss moves **down** automatically to protect profits.
If the market **reverses upward**, the stop-loss remains fixed at the last adjusted level.

**Note:** Since the trailing stop in ProjectX is **dynamic**, there’s no need to enter a specific trail value — it automatically follows your position based on market movement.

## 9. ProjectX Account Management in PickMyTrade {#31-toc-title}

This section explains how to add your ProjectX account to PickMyTrade for automated execution. You can either connect your TradeStation login within your current PickMyTrade account or link it across multiple PickMyTrade accounts.

### **8.1 Add ProjectX Account in Current PickMyTrade Account** {#32-toc-title}

Use this option if your ProjectX login is already connected to the same PickMyTrade account you’re currently using.

![Add Trading Account form in PickMyTrade with Strategy Name, Account Type, and Connection Name fields](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-22.avif)

| Field Name | Example Input | Explanation |
| --- | --- | --- |
| PickMyTrade Conn. Name | PROJECTX1 | Select the correct ProjectX connection name from the dropdown. |
| PROJECTX Acc. Name | S1JUN111567888 | Choose your ProjectX account from the dropdown (must be linked). |
| Option | QUANTITYMULTIPLIER | Choose your preferred position sizing method. |
| Qty Multiplier | 1 | A multiplier of 1 sends exact quantity. 2 would double trade size, etc. |

Make sure your ProjectX connection is active and verified in the account.

---

### **8.2 Add ProjectX Account in Another PickMyTrade Account** {#33-toc-title}

Use this setup if you want to send trades into a different PickMyTrade account — useful when managing multiple logins.

![Add Trading Account form with Another ProjectX login selected and PickMyTrade Token field shown](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-23.avif)

| Field Name | Example Input | Explanation |
| --- | --- | --- |
| PickMyTrade Token | your_target_token | Token from the target PickMyTrade account you want to connect to. |
| PickMyTrade Conn. Name | PROJECTX1 | Must match the ProjectX connection name inside that target account. |
| PROJECTX Acc. Name | PRACTICEJUN11166544 | Enter the exact ProjectX account name as shown in the terminal. |
| Option | QUANTITYMULTIPLIER | Same sizing logic as above. |
| Qty Multiplier | 1 | Multiply trade quantity by this value (1 = unchanged, 2 = double, etc.) |

Ensure the PickMyTrade token is copied accurately and the ProjectX connection exists in the destination account.
Execution will fail if the mapping is incorrect.

## 9. Final Step – Generate and Copy TradingView Alert

### Once all accounts are added and configured, click **Confirm & Generate Alert** button.

![Add Trading Account form with one account queued and Confirm and Generate Alert button](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/image-28.avif)

After generating the alert, you’ll receive a JSON payload.
